Research

We study the influence of the abiotic environment on the dynamics of ecological communities. We use experiments and models to relate environmental conditions to the the structure and function of ecosystems. In particular, our work seeks to understand the ecological impacts of climate change and habitat modification, and to explore how conservation efforts might be most effective given natural environmental changes.

Currently, we’re exploring how the effects of temperature on individual metabolic rate in turn influences herbivory. We also study the effects of changing predator diversity in the ocean, and the consequences of invasive species in marine habitats.
